Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club was founded in 1886. In 2018 the venue played host to the Ricoh Women’s British Open tournament, attracting players spectators from all over the world which was won by England’s Georgia Hall. In 2019, the British Senior’s Open will return to Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club too (July 25th to 28th).
The area is no stranger to hosting top world class golf tournaments and Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club has hosted eleven men’s open tournaments and four women’s tournaments. Most recently the Mens Open Golf in 2012 was won by Ernie Els and the Women’s Open was won by Scotland’s Catriona Matthew in 2009. In recent years David Duval won the Open at the club in 2001 and who can forget Seve Ballesteros winning his first Open here on the Fylde coast in 1979 and his third Open win back at here in 1988?
The William Rainford Golf Tournament, sponsored by Thomas Armstrong Holdings Ltd is an amateur doubles tournament and your opportunity to play four of Fylde’s best courses over a five day period and the event attracts competitors from all over the UK and Europe.
